What's wrong with them?
In these days of polarizing, divisive opinions it's easy to question the sanity, intelligence, good will and mental process of those who see things so differently from us. How can things that are so apparent to us not be clear to them?

How can they:

  • See black where we see white?
  • Regard as bad what we see as good?
  • Be so against that which we see as desirable?

How can we:

  • Deal with those who seek to divide us, to label and demonize those who see things differently?
  • Avoid being triggered by attacks from others?
  • Differentiate between choosing to withhold my opinion and surrendering my voice?

We are programmed to respond defensively when we feel judged and criticized. Our reaction to our own judgments is quite the opposite - we hold on to them, embrace them with righteous determination. Could it be that our judgments are clouding the dialogue?

To what degree am I:

  • Judgmental and dismissive of those whose viewpoints run counter to mine?
  • Opinionated and self-righteous in defense of my positions?
  • Convinced that my way is the right way, and that others are wrong?

What can I do to bridge our differences?
Join us in San Diego to listen, to share and to explore what each of us can do to bridge the gaps that separate us

  • What can I do to inspire to dialogue over our different attitudes and opinions?
  • How willing am I to adjust my own responses?
  • Can I live with and accept our differences?
  • How open am I to deeply listening to others, to understand their fears and motivations?
  • Can I forgo my judgments and criticisms to engage with others?

Call for Presenters

We invite participants at our 2018 Conference to submit proposals for presentations — workshops, demonstrations, lectures, panel discussions, stories of significant import, and other formats not yet imagined. We request that presentations relate to our theme — Bridging our Differences in Challenging Times — but we will consider other topics which you consider of value to our participants.

Please address your proposals to Will Stillwell awstillwell@sbcglobal.net
